I am Nathaniel J. Darkish, a horror writer and the co-host of the podcast Scream Kings. I have a degree in creative writing from Utah State University and work as a high school English and creative writing teacher. I live in northern Utah with my wife and two children.
My story "Leftover Monstrosities" was published in The Witching Time of Night: The Salt City Genre Writers 2020 Horror Anthology. A story co-written with N.J. Gallegos, "Cutting Room," is appearing in the soon-to-be-released Dread Mondays: A Whisper House Press Horror Anthology (available October 2025). I have also published poetry in Space and Time magazine. I have written and am revising two novels, both currently unpublished. I am represented by Najla Mamou of Saavy Literary.
Three friends, myself, plus horror writer N.J. Gallegos, and occult enthusiast Max George, discuss horror movies, TV shows, books, and video games, creepy folklore, and the occult, plus regularly feature guests in the horror community including filmmakers and writers. The show has been going strong since 2017 and is available everywhere you listen to podcasts.
